Ed Stetzer is no stranger to Oklahoma. In fact, it would not surprise me if he had a second home here. I have come to enjoy Ed, his ministry, his love for the church, and especially his heart for Jesus. Ed is one of our denomination's leaders in impacting lostness all over our world. Ed has graciously allowed us to videorecord him at Falls Creek as part of the One Day Initiative.
About the recording
Ed will be speaking on three topics during the recording session. Each topic will be about 30 minutes in length. His three topics are:
- *Missional Small Communities (the term that includes both Sunday School and Small Groups)
- Missional Leadership
- Lost and Found: Reaching and Keeping Young Adults
*This is the segment to show at your One Day Orientation Seminar in August
All three of these presentations will be on the DVD. Our video team at the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma will be doing the recording. Just so you know, they are using four HD videocams. Two of the cams are stationary. One of the cams will be a roamer, so they can capture different shots and also record thefaces of enthralled attendees as they relish every word and take in every sweeping gesture Ed makes! Finally, one of the cams is mounted on the platform Ed is speaking from and is on a jib. Using this many cameras will gives us a variety of shots and keep the video interesting… because we all know that Ed is a numbing presence on the platform!
This video is one of the unique features of One Day. It is the only resource that can not be downloaded. In order to receive this video, you must register to participate in the One Day Initiative. We have two reasons behind this strategy. First, we want to make sure that Ed's presentation is "new" when hundreds of our churches show the video at their One Day Orientation Seminar in August. Obviously, if we release the video too soon, it will receive a lot of viewing. Imagine what it will be like showing a video at your One Day meeting that many of the people in the room have already seen.. perhaps several times. Downer huh?
Second, we want to have a way to measure the impact of One Day in participating churches. By asking each church to register in order to receive the DVD, we know who is participating in One Day and we can evaluate the effectiveness of One Day in these churches. So the only way… and I want to repeat, the ONLY way for you to get the One Day DVD with Ed Stetzer before September 1 is by registering to participate in the One Day Initiative. You can register at www.bgco.org/oneday and choose the "church registration" icon.
You may have noticed that there are two additional presentations. These are bonus presentations. You may use these presentations anyway you choose. Show them to your deacons. You may want to save them and show them at future leadership meetings for your Bible study teachers. They would make great discussion at staff meetings.
A final note: As a general rule, anytime a staff member of the BGCO communicates something to our churches in the state, we add a Cooperative Program tag. That tag is not something we add lightly. The entire One Day Initiative, every resource, video, conference plan, and promo piece has been paid for through the gifts of our churches to the Cooperative Program. We are making it available to our churches free of charge. We are able to do this because of their faithfulness and their belief that through the Cooperative Program we can do more together than any of us could do alone. Philippians 1:3-7.
