For the past four years, the BGCO has published a resource kit for churches to use to equip their Sunday School and small group leadership. We call it One Day because we also do a simulcast on the last Sunday of August at 6:00 and we encourage churches from Oklahoma to join us at that time to equip their group leaders. The theme for this year’s training is “The X-Factor: 5 Expectations of Groups”. Here is one of the brief videos from the One Day X-Factor Resource Kit.
Prior to One Day, our convention usually held about 25 or so training clinics a year scattered all over Oklahoma. Our average attendance at these clinics was about 100 leaders each, so our combined training event attendance was about 2,500 each year.
Enter One Day! Last year, our BGCO churches reported their attendance at their One Day seminars totaled 9,131 leaders! That’s almost quadruple the participation!
Here is how One Day works:
The church is in control of the training, not the state convention. Many churches choose to train their leaders on the last Sunday of August (August 26 this year), but the materials are flexible and can be used any time.
This year’s training is completely video driven! If you have someone that can turn on a TV and insert a DVD, you can train your leaders.
One Day training is for all ages (preschool, grade school, student, and adult). Video sessions are available for all age groups. There are individual DVD’s for each age group, and each of these DVD’s are designed for about 60 minutes of training. The DVD’s follow the theme for One Day this year, “The X-Factor”.
General Session – Many churches like to have a keynote speaker for a general session of their Sunday School and small group leaders. This year, we have a 31 minute DVD presentation by our executive director, Dr. Anthony Jordan. This is also the presentation that we will simulcast on Sunday, August 26 at 6:00.
I think you’ll enjoy the materials. If you would like one of our One Day Resource Kits, email me and we’ll be happy to ship one to you.
