Step One in the One Day Initiative is for you to choose some key people from your church (or association) who will be good conference presenters. These key leaders will be teaching your Sunday School or small group leaders at Step Two, which is your church or assocation One Day Equipping Seminar. They will be the trainers for your leadership in the One Day Initiative.
The selection of these trainers is an important part of your church's One Day experience. Rather than bringing in a professional (like me), it is vital that you begin to develop people in your own church who will be experts in small group or Sunday School ministry. If you are a pastor, one of the struggles you undoubtedly face is that many of your members just do not understand how a church grows and how to develop leaders. By enlisting some key leaders from your church to be trainers, they will have the opportunity to grow into a leader that you can depend upon in the future.
It is also challenging to be one of these trainers. Teaching their students in a Bible study group is one thing, but teaching other teachers is completely different! Teaching your peers will grow you in ways that teaching students will never accomplish. It requires more study, more prayer, and more preparation. In the end, your trainers will become even better teachers. They will also raise the level of leadership in your church.
You can send your trainers to Falls Creek on April 30-May 1, 2009 and we will equip them in every seminar in their age group. They will receive five hours of training in a variety of topics in small group or Sunday School ministry. If you will get them to Falls Creek, the BGCO will feed them, house them, and equip them. In addition to the five hours of training, they will also get an overview of how One Day works. On Friday, May 1, they will be part of a live audience and will be part of the videorecording of Ed Stetzer's three topics that he is presenting to us that day.
Question: What are these five age groups that you keep talking about?
One Day provides training for the following age-groups in Sunday School. A total of five, one hour seminars are offered in each age group, plus the small group seminar is two hours. Therefore, there is a total of 26 seminars.
- Grade School
- General Leaders (pastors, Sunday School directors)
- Small Groups
