When I was learning about small groups and Sunday School as a seminarian and as a minister of education, almost every seminar or training event I attended referred to the Sunday School as “the church organized”. It seemed to be a recurring theme. Then I would come home and deal with benevolence committees, Deacon family ministry plans, and outreach programs and I began to realize that the principles of the seminars were not being transferred into the common practice of the church.
I am a vocal proponent of “missional small groups or Sunday Schools” and promote practical implementation of missional principles in our groups and classes. So what if we took the “church organized” concept one step further and empowered our groups or classes to be missionaries? Ed Stetzer does a great job capturing this thought in the 60 second One Day promo video below.
The One Day Initiative is designed to help every single group in the church to become missionaries in their neighborhoods. For more information about participating in the One Day Initiative, go to www.bgco.org/oneday for information and registration.
