An expectation of your group is that your group is leading people to Christ. Although this is true for every group of every age, it is really critical in the children’s ministry. Many children that come to Sunday School come from broken homes. Furthermore, our culture has changed dramatically over the last decade. Christianity has gradually been pushed out of the school and public arena. Many people insist that they are okay with Christianity, as long as Christians keep their faith to themselves. On television, children regularly see Christianity, especially the clergy and church goers as old fashioned. Often pastors are ridiculed by today’s media.
These conditions have resulted in a generation of children that have not been raised in a predominately Christian culture. The opportunity that we have in children’s Sunday School classes to share the Gospel and provide opportunities for these kids to respond is important.
