During the months of April and May, members of Edmond’s First Baptist Church are hosting small groups in their homes for the purpose of engaging their unchurched friends and neighbors with the Gospel. I should probably say “we” are hosting… since I am the Interim Education Minister at the church and I am hosting a group in my home too. Starting April 6, we will have about 30 home groups across Edmond. Our study is The Gospel Revolution by JD Greear. This eight week study is not only for lost people, I believe that it will have a significant impact on our on church members as well.
Every Tuesday for the next 8 weeks, I will have a post on the blog to help our host homes prepare to host their Gospel Project home each week.
EFBC Host Homes
You attended the orientation meeting on March 10 and decided that you want to host a home. Your Gospel Revolution Host home kit is available for you to pick up in the church foyer if you haven’t already. Here is what is in your kit:
- 1 Gospel Revolution Resource kit – Includes the teaching DVD’s
- 7 Gospel Revolution workbooks for the people in your group. More are available if you need them. Thanks to a wonderful donation from a church member, we are able to provide this $12 workbook for free to everyone that participates.
- 25 Doorhangers. Be sure to write your name, address, and contact info on the reverse side of the doorhanger so that your neighbors know where to go for the group meeting. More doorhangers are available if needed.
Also, be sure to come by the Gospel Revolution kiosk in the foyer. We are printing yard signs for you to place in your front yard to help identify your house as a host home for The Gospel Revolution!
Just a reminder
You are responsible for recruiting and enlisting your friends and neighbors to be part of your group. The church is not assigning people to your group. This is a little different than we usually do things in the Baptist church, but… why should the church play the middle man in this? You know your friends and neighbors, the church does not. These groups are built around relationships, so enlisting people to attend your group is up to you!
I would strongly recommend that you look through the Resource Kit. Especially, watch the intro and the 1st session videos. After you watch them, I think you will be even more excited about asking your friends and neighbors to join you in your home for 8 weeks.
Be sure to have enough door hangers for your neighborhood or to give to friends.
