I met with the Drs. Mark McClellan, Scott Pace, and Alan Bandy today at Oklahoma Baptist University and the location for the upcoming Missional Ministry Conference, March 24-25, 2011. I also visited with one of our keynote speakers, Micah Fries, pastor in St. Joe’s, Missouri, on the phone today regarding the MMC.
Just an update on the MMC. Our theme this year is “The Gospel-Centered Church” and we are focusing on our theme. Our strategy at the MMC is to build the conference in such a way that each seminar and general session is cohesive and building toward the final session on Friday morning. At the MMC, the theme is more than a backdrop that the speaker may refer to in his or her presentation, our theme drives the conference. We ask each speaker to build their message around our theme. After the meeting today and the upcoming meeting on Tuesday with the MMC strategy team, we are going to be zeroed in on the missional implications of having a life and a church totally centered in the Gospel.
The MMC website will be updated soon with the schedule, and also with hotel information, speakers, and more. I’ll update the blog with the new website design soon.
We are excited to be partnering with Oklahoma Baptist University this year. OBU students are not only welcomed, but are going to be a part of this year’s MMC. Students will have a platform presence as well as some breakout seminars designed to help students live missional lives and engage in the mission of the local church.
There will also be breakout sessions for pastors, worship leaders, student ministers, and childhood specialists. Some of the seminars include: Gospel-Centered Preaching, Gospel-Centered Mission, the Gospel Redeeming Culture, and many more. All totalled, there will be about 20 breakout sessions offered in addition to the three plenary sessions.
