On occasion I am available to do consulting or interim ministry in the local church. But before we get into any details, let me state something that is very important to me and is a core conviction.
I ride for the brand!
My ministry is through the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma and my first priority when it comes to my work and ministry is to this state convention. Through the BGCO, I have the opportunity to work with 42 Baptist Associations and 1,800 churches. So my first ministry commitment is to the BGCO and the churches that support it through their voluntary gifts through the Cooperative Program. If you are a Southern Baptist Church in Oklahoma and need some coaching or an hour or so of my time, or need a speaker for a banquet or retreat, just call or email me.
However, there are times when a church may need to block more of my time than is normal… a lot more. So I am available to serve a church as an interim education minister, or a church consultant or coach. I just ask that the church respect my responsibilities and time at the BGCO and schedule the bulk of the ministry with the church in the evenings or on weekends. My BGCO ministry comes first. Oklahoma Baptists deserve my attention to their churches and people through the BGCO.
I have 15 years experience as a Sunday School and small group specialist with two Baptist state conventions (Arizona and Oklahoma). In addition I have another 14 years experience as an education minister in two churches in Texas and Arizona. One of these churches was the fastest growing church in Texas for five consecutive years.
How it works
As an interim, I work with six month agreements and the details are flexible. Essentially, I am basically agreeing to be your part-time Minister of Education.
If you are looking for a Sunday School, small group, or church consultant; this is my general plan:
- Six month contract (provided).
- Assessment of current situation (5 years of stats needed).
- Work with a task force.
- 2 days on site/month to meet with task force/staff.
- 1 small group leadership training session on a Sunday after morning worship that includes assessment and recommendations.
- Complete the interim with a one year strategy and benchmarks.
- The church agrees to start some new groups during the interim period.
