This month at Sunday School Leader.com, we are posting one article each day based on David Francis’ book, Transformational Church Goes to Sunday School. The contributors on the SSL blog are all State Sunday School Directors for their respective state conventions (SBC). With 42 of us writing on the blog, SSL.com definitely has a lot of variety. There are guys who represent very large, established state conventions, and also conventions who are pioneering the Gospel in some of America’s least evangelized areas. Together, we bring a broad perspective to Sunday School.
David Francis is the Sunday School guru at LifeWay Christian Resources, an agency of the Southern Baptist Convention. He has a very impressive title that I can’t really remember off the top of my head. But we kid each other about sharing a brain because we think so much alike when it comes to Sunday School. David’s book is the primary piece behind LifeWay’s recently launched Sunday School resource kit, named interestingly enough – Transformational Church Goes to Sunday School.
As you are probably aware, I think that there is more to Sunday School than a bunch of people sitting around and growing old together. I believe that we should expect each person in each class to change, to be transforming into the image of Christ. Part of that transformation involves growing closer to Christ in your faith, growing closer to other believers in your class, serving in your local church, and taking the gospel to your neighbors, school, community, and workplace.
